2013 Outstanding Project of the Year - Renovation/Restoration
On March 13th, 1929 Mayor W.H. Malkin blew a blast on a golden whistle and set in motion the steam shovel that broke ground for the new Burrard Street Skyscraper. The Marine Building is one of the great Art Deco building in the world. JJ Bean wanted to install a modern cafe but maintain the Art Deco design. This was no easy task as a new engineered mezzanine was installed which had to be seismically attached to the existing columns and through the ceilings.
Silver Wheaton - MNP Tower
This challenging project included free form, non-repeating shapes and levels that were incorporated into the ceilings to resemble topographical maps. The oustanding results of this project demonstrates the ability of Raicor to incorporate intricate and complex designs into our work.
Sony Pictures Imageworks
2016 Outstanding Project of the Year - Best Renovation/Retrofit Project
Raicor had to complete our scope of this 75,000 square foot project in two and a half months. We coordinated our workforce with thirty to forty Raicor employees on site each day to ensure we delivered it on time. The finished product looked even more stunning after Sony added their artwork to the site. Sony unveiled its new operations centre on Granville street with Premier Cristy Clark and Mayor Gregor Robertson on site.
Media Company Radio Stations
2014 Outstanding Project of the Year - Renovation/Restoration
This project was unique due to all of the sound proofing requirements for the radio studios. The full floor renovation included multiple layers of drywall, plywood and backer board on steel studs with Roxul insulation to acheive the required sound proofing level. In addition, nothing was directly connected to the floor or roof structure to ensure that noise didn't vibrate through, which was done using rubber gasket strips in conjuction with partitions, and using steel stud joints to support the walls and T-Bar.
"A gem in its own right, the painfully bijou, 1,636-square-foot store at the retail pedestal of a revamped Carlyle building features De Beers’s signature 'glass and light' interior decor, a living chiaroscuro painted in etched glass panels, pavé-set recessed lighting and dark-wood millwork in a contemporary take on opulent Louis XV furnishings." - BCBusiness
High demands and constantly changing drawings and design were challenges on this project. Our expert foremen interpreted drawings and predicted changes to help us get De Beers' first Canadian location DONE RIGHT, ON TIME.
2012 Outstanding Project of the Year - Interior Commercial
LDS Temple in Langley is an inspiring monument which had to be built to perfection and was built to last for hundreds of years. There was zero tolerance for any deficiences and drywall finish was expected to appear like polished marble, which required flawless workmanship. Raicor achieved these requirements by using our best tradesmen and having an excellent team on site. At the end of the project, the general contractor handed over the project without any imperfections.
Louis Vuitton Hotel Vancouver
2011 Outstanding Project of the Year - Renovation/Restoration
This project created an interesting combination of high end store and heritage building. Floor space was doubled and went from one floor to two floors while the store was still open. One challenge was that quite often the hotel would have important guests and we suddenly couldn't make any more noise despite the noise schedule. Our favourite part of this project was preparing the old 1930's construction for the new finishes.
